Workforce Development Funding is now available for adult social care employers such as nursing homes, residential homes, or care homes across England to support the development of their care staff. Last year over 2500 diverse establishments used the Workforce Develop Fund (WDF) to develop their staff to improve the quality of care they provide.

Will you be using WDF this year to do the same?There is a strong business case for investing in qualifications and the development of staff. Workforce Development Funding helps employers to make that investment which benefits the organisation, the workers and those who need care and support. In essence care providers receive FREE training when they choose applicable qualifications through Guardian Angels Training subject to minimum numbers.

WDF helps staff to deliver high quality care

All staff working in adult social care should be able to access and take part in learning and development so they can carry out their role effectively and deliver high quality care. WDF focuses on the achievement of qualification units and supports workers ongoing professional development. WDF supports the development of staff at level 2 upwards. Last year 188,000 Qualification and Credit Framework (RQF (QCF)) units were supported by WDF.

Accessing the Workforce Development Fund (WDF) 2014 - 2015

If you’re an adult social care employer within England, you can access WDF to support continuing professional development of your staff through the achievement of qualification units. This information illustrates an overview of how you can become eligible for WDF and how to make a claim for it.

Which units and qualifications can be funded?

The Workforce Development Funds the cost of staff completing units and qualifications on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (RQF (QCF)). Funding is calculated on the credit size of qualification units at £15 per credit. How much you can claim back will depend on the qualification, the units selected and how many credits make up those units.

Eligibility?

You must be compliant with NMDS and registered with a local partnership. You must also receive assistance from a training provider accredited to deliver your chosen RQF (QCF) units such as Guardian Angels Training. This funding is only available to Care Providers and NOT Individual Workers.
