Guardian Angels Training are a specialist training provider of teacher, assessor and internal verifier training qualifications; so if you are looking for an accredited assessor training provider that can deliver your assessor training course efficiently and expertly, then we are for you. NVQ Assessor training qualifications such as the A1 and A2 awards were replaced in 2012 by an updated comprehensive suite of assessing and internal verifying qualifications commonly referred to as TAQA.
This change led to a choice of RQF (QCF) assessor training qualifications based on the Qualification and Credit Framework (RQF (QCF)) of units, awards and certificate. The new A1 assessor course is known as the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, however, small units and award based assessor training qualifications are available depending upon your requirements.
Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment RQF (QCF) - this unit outlines the theory of assessing only and is currently required by First Aid trainers and assessors due to the October 2015 First Aid regulatory requirements.
Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment RQF (QCF) - this assessor qualification is aimed at those assessors who are required to carry out work based assessments.
Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement RQF (QCF) - this assessor qualification allows those to assess all areas including the classroom or workplace.
Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement RQF (QCF) (CAVA) - this assessor qualification includes all the RQF (QCF) assessor training units and is therefore ideally suited for those assessing across a range of assessor environments including the classroom and workplace.
The CAVA Assessor qualification allows the assessor to assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace, for example, classroom or other training environment. This qualification has greatest longevity and is equivalent to the old NVQ Assessor qualification - the A1 award.
We recommend the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement RQF (QCF) as this is the highest assessor qualification currently available and is the equivalent to the old A1 Assessor qualification. However, if you are unsure which assessor qualification you require, please contact us to discuss your requirements by using the contact us page.
The full Assessor qualification (Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement RQF (QCF) (CAVA)) has an 84 guided learning hours (GLH) requirement. This means that you are expected to evidence that you undertook at least 84 hours of learning.
As we specialise in blended learning, the GLH is made up of; self-directed study, completion of your workbooks, personal tutorials, collating your portfolio and undertaking assessor based work products and observations. Therefore, every hour you undertake whilst completing your Assessor qualification (CAVA/A1) is recognised towards your end qualification. We often find that most trainee assessors complete their Assessor course i.e. the full equivalent to the A1 (Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement CAVA) in 6 weeks.
To be awarded with the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement RQF (QCF) you will need to collate a portfolio of evidence addressing the following RQF (QCF) Assessor units:
Unit 1 Understanding the principles and practices of assessment 3 Credits
Unit 2 Assess occupational competence in the work environment 6 Credits
Unit 3 Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding 6 Credits
Trainee RQF (QCF) assessors are expected to complete a number of “assessment activities” that include workbooks, observations and work products. During the course, trainee assessors will also carry out a minimum four assessments that examine the skills, knowledge and understanding of your two candidates.
As we deliver our assessor training courses using a blended approach we do combine both theory and practical requirements of the assessor course to ensure timely completion of the assessor qualification. At all times of the assessor training courses, trainee assessors are supported by their Tutor Assessor via telephone, skype, email and face-to-face personal tutorials and observation sessions.
All our Assessor qualifications are approved and accredited by an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation so that recognised RQF (QCF) assessor qualifications are provided upon successful completion on the assessor training course.
